Kansas City Barbecue Sauce

An online recipe with instructions for making Kansas City Barbecue Sauce.

Ingredients

- 1 (14 ounce) can of crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup of tomato ketchup
- 3/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup of molasses
- 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 2 teaspoons of ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground mustard <>/p>

Instructions

Mix all ingredients in a medium-size saucepan.

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat then reduce the heat to simmer

Simmer the mixture for 20 minutes.

Let the mixture cool.

Optional: Puree the sauce in a blender

This sauce is best served after refrigerating overnight but it can used used immediately after cooking and cooling.
