Spiced Raisin Sauce

This spicy, sweet and sour raisin sauce is especially good with baked ham and ham loaf. It is a cornstarch based sauce that includes raisins, brown sugar, vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and dry mustard.

Ingredients

- 1-1/2 cups of water + 1/4 cup of cold water
- 1 cup of raisins
- 1/3 cup of brown sugar
- 1-1/2 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon of dry mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of vinegar

Instructions

Pour the 1-1/2 cups of the water into a saucepan, add the raisins, bring to a boil, and allow to boil 5 minutes. Dissolve the cornstarch in the 1/4 cup of cold water. Mix in the brown sugar, spices, mustard and salt. Stir the cornstarch and spices mixture into the water and raisins. Cook and stir until the sauce thickens. Blend in the vinegar Good served with baked ham or ham loaf.
