What Is Telemark Skiing?
Telemark skiing is a downhill skiing technique that features elements of both alpine skiing (downhill) and cross-country skiing (free-heel/toe-only bindings). The technique has been described as "downhill skiing using a squat-like motion" and "using the rear foot for balance while pushing on the front foot to create a carving turn while skiing downhill" The sport is named after the Telemark Region of Norway where it originated.
